Restoration

Every roof develops damage at some point. It can be caused by debris, weather, poor installation or just time.

If your Dallas area damaged roof seems like it’s in need of a full tear-off and new replacement, you may be surprised to discover that the best solution to your problem is a commercial roof restoration.

Restoration is a surface application of fluid-applied materials either rolled or sprayed directly onto your existing roofing system. The entire roof is covered including any flashings, or protrusions such as HVAC vents, and parapet walls.

It runs into the smallest fissures, leaks, and other damaged spots, and, as it dries, forms a single, impervious, unbroken skin. Since leak development is at the seams, you can appreciate this.

Benefits of a Restoration

A commercial roof restoration offers so many benefits, paring them down to just a few is tremendously difficult.

  • Seamless. As noted, the lack of seams virtually eliminates the risk of leak development.
  • Durable. Fluid applied restoration systems are resistant to UV damage and the eroding effects of weathering.
  • Longevity. Professionally installed and maintained, a restoration adds a decade or more to your existing roof system.
  • Renewable. Restoration systems can be reapplied, as necessary. Not only is the system itself is renewable, so is the warranty!
  • Cost Effective. Significantly less expensive than the old tear-off and replace option.
  • Energy Efficient. Restoration options include reflective systems that send 85 per cent of solar heat away from the roof, lowering your cooling costs and HVAC loads.
  • Environmentally Friendly. Roof restoration reduces the amount of unnecessary debris in our trash dumps, saves electricity use and reduces hot house gases emissions.
  • Timely Application. No down time for your business is required.
  • Eco-friendly. Since the system itself offers highly energy-efficient insulating characteristics, green is built into just about every aspect of a restoration job.

Not all roofs are appropriate for commercial roof restoration. Call Glick Roofing Systems for a free consultation with one of our specialists to see if your roof qualifies.

Restoration Options

There are many choices when it comes to restoration. We believe liquid-applied are the best-performing.

Coatings

The term ‘coatings’ encompasses a wide range of choices. The most common are urethane and acrylic coatings. Urethane coatings are durable and hardy. Acrylic coatings are very reflective and resistant to UV radiation and chemical/environmental contaminants. Occasionally the 2 will be used in conjunction with each other as part of a base coat/topcoat combination.

Spray Foam. It’s also known as spray polyurethane foam, or SPF, and is made of two distinct liquids. When sprayed, they combine and an exothermic (heat-releasing) chemical reaction occurs, which is what causes the ‘foaming’ action. It expands to 30x in volume. It seeps into holes, cracks, and even the smallest imperfections, completely sealing them. Spray foam also helps to insulate against thermal fluctuations – essentially helping to make a building warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
